Digital Audio Seminar - Saturday, April 21, 2007

 

Approximately 90 high school and middle school students attended this Learningbytes Saturday Seminar at West Valley that featured musicians and audio professionals, and included hands-on demonstrations in a digital audio lab. Students had the opportunity to compose, mix, and produce their own loops and beats. Many thanks to the Department of Digital Media/Internet Services and the Music Department for making this a fun and exciting day long seminar.

Digital Video Seminar - Saturday, March 10, 2007

 

Saturday March 10th, West Valley College’s Department of Digital Media/Internet Services hosted the first of three Learningbyte’s seminars for Bay Area middle and high school students. Approximately 150 students participated including Watsonville High School, Mountain View Girls School, Sunnyvale Middle School, and Leland High School.

 

Students had a chance to participate in three hands on seminars where they learned to create digital film titles, how to shoot video, and got a basic orientation to the Apple Motion software. Additionally, special guest Eric Edkins, a Hollywood cinematographer spoke about filmmaking and showed clips of his special effects that he created in the film Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow.

 

The digital video seminar is the first of three Learningbytes Seminars being presented this semester at West Valley College. The seminars are free, and open to middle and high school students. Parents and family members are welcome to participate, as an important focus of the seminar is explaining educational pathways and future career options that exist in California’s Multi Media and Entertainment Industry. The seminars are sponsored by the  Economic Workforce Development and Career Technical Education, the California Community College Chancellor's Office and  West Valley College.
