Mission Statement
AME (Arts, Multimedia & Entertainment) Apprentice is a two year grant beginning summer 07. This program focuses entirely on securing Arts, Media, and Entertainment industry sector apprenticeships and placing, assisting, and mentoring High School/ROCP and Community College students in their transition to the workforce. The AME Apprentice curriculum, in combination with a Portfolio Planning and Review process offers participants the opportunity to learn in a mentored environment, practice in student teams, and transition to industry apprenticeships.
Purposes of AME Apprentice
- Create, produce, develop client-based work
- Build an entry level portfolio
- Experience working on a production team
- Fine tune learning needs
- Gain access through networking to sustainable employment
AME Apprentice
AME Apprentice is administered through the Department of Digital Media/Internet Services at West Valley College. Department faculty are developing relationships with industry with whom they will develop entry level gols, skills and portfolio guidelines for senior highschool and collegel level students. Grant partners will teach and mentor in portfolio design and development, team building, resume preparation, interview skills and assist in preparing and placing students in apprenticeships.
